The demand for telecommuting is high, not just in Connecticut but nationwide, according to a recent UCONN/Rutgers study. In
fact, worker demand for telecommuting currently outstrips employers willingness to offer a telecommuting optiona finding
similar to a study published by Telecommute CT!.
According to the UCONN/Rutgers study of more than 1,000 adults:
- 40% of those surveyed said that they could do their jobs from home.
- However, only 16% of the employers offer a telecommuting option.
The study also found that most workers are more than ready, from a computer skills point of view, to work remotely. For example:
- 68% of all workers use a computer every day and have access to a computer at home.
- Workers spend an average of 35% of their work day on a computer.
