Virginia Congressman Wants Federal Workers to have Telecommuting Option

Federal employees want to telecommute but are often discouraged by the agencies they work for, according to Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R-VA). "Rarely does a week go by when I am not contacted by a federal worker who is interested in working from home on occasion but whose agency will not permit such an arrangement," Wolf said in a Feb. 2 letter to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). After meeting with OPM, Mr. Wolf convinced them to start actively promoting telecommuting for federal employees. Mr. Wolf's goal is a federal policy that gives 25% of eligible federal employees a telecommuting option, beginning this year.
