American Management Association Telecommuting Survey (September, 1999) based on 1,265 respondents. Among the findings:

• work at home occasionally on no fixed schedule; 2% work at home one or more days per week on a regular schedule; and 1% work at home full time
• 41% would choose to work at home more often
• 93% received no training for working at home. Only 4% get printed materials and guidelines
• 24% were loaned the necessary equipment by to telecommute by their employers
• 27% had equipment purchased on their behalf by their employers
• 10% were required to either pay for their own equipment, or share the costs with their employers
• 73% had little or no help with the costs of establishing business phone connections
